The Israeli Metal Battle was first conducted in 2008. it was produced by the Music Travel Agency On.Tour (www.ontour.co.il) and Israel's biggest news and culture source, YNET (ynet.co.il). the two are still producing together the competition every year.
Each one of the local finals was held in a major club in Tel Aviv, and all of the five finalists were filmed and documented for the audience to discover on Ynet news.
In it's first year, Israeli finalists "The Fading" won the first place in the Metal Battle in Wacken and showed that Israel's Metal music is not to be ignored.
In it's second year the Israeli Representative was "Ferium" and in 2010 "Missing In Action".
Last year (2011) the thrash metal super-group "Hammercult" once again proved the greatness of Israeli Metal and was announced first place in the Metal Battle In Wacken. Making Israel the winners for the second time in only four years of participation.
Both "The Fading" and "Hammercult" had gained momentum and success in the European market, releasing major albums and performing along side bands like: Arch Enemy, Children Of Bodom, In Flames and D.R.I.
Israel is looking forward to the Metal Battle of 2012. We are fully confident we will keep producing top notch music and some serious head banging.
