Winner Band: Inquisitor
Abstract:
Inquisitor is a Lithuanian melodic avant-garde/black metal band. Having its symphonic roots back in 2oo2 nowadays Inquisitor is an entity looking for an organic junction of challenging rhythmics, harsh riffing and passionate melodic passages…
About:
The history of Inquisitor can be traced back as far as to the year 2002, however the first home records were followed by the succession of changes in line-up and the first official demo ‘Prelude’ (a self-release CD) appeared only in 2005. Since it was an account of almost three years of musical evolution, ‘Prelude’ contains 6 quite diverse symphonic dark-metal pieces. The following years witnessed a dramatic change in the sound and ideas of Inquisitor. Having broadened the musical spectrum from still harsher riffing to passionate melodic passages Inquisitor stylistically approached the domain of melodic/avant-garde black metal. In 2007 deciding not to push some self-recordings into public, Inquisitor finally concentrates on a compositionally and ideologically challenging task of creating a multi-layered nonetheless unified album that would comprise a pseudo-plot with a single lyrical theme and characters. This idea develops into an album that is recorded in summer 2008 and is being mastered for almost a year. This is how ‘The Quantum Theory of Id’ is born (2010, Forgotten Path Records). Inquisitor enters year 2012 – the Anniversary year – open for new challenges and preparing the second full-length album.

Winner Band: Saturnian
From the ashes of 2010 rises Saturnian, a new breed of Extreme Symphonic Metal. Saturnian are a 6 piece from the United Kingdom, proud of a country rich in metal history, and ready to usher in a new age charged with its pedigree. Saturnian was formed around one main principle – to create epic and majestic metal songs to enchant fans of all metal genres; delivered in a grand and dramatic style that could soundtrack a blockbuster movie or theatrical performance. Expect razor sharp riffing, fist pounding rhythms, and a symphonic backbone worthy of the armies of Hell, or the far reaches of the universe. In true portentous British style, this is rounded out by a massive choral explosion, soaring sopranos, and ritualistic Gregorian chant. This ethos comes to life in the Saturnian live experience, which in itself is a theatrical spectacle as opposed to a generic recital of metal songs. Saturnian breeds an eclectic blend of voices, stunning instrumental performances, and a visual experience that will amaze, mystify and inspire!
