Applications are open for the upcoming edition of W:O:A Metal Battle Portugal, a competition that provides for the presence of a national band on the line up of Wacken Open Air.
Wacken Open Air is the world’s biggest heavy metal festival, counting on the presence of more than 100 000 metalheads, something that brings great attractiveness to the national stage of the competition.
As a matter of fact, W:O:A Metal Battle is the main international competition for any kind of metal bands, involving multiple nationalities and enjoying of great reputation in important countries like Brazil or Norway.
In order to apply to the contest, bands need to fulfill a couple of essential prerequisites as they cannot be signed to a ny record label and must be able to present a 30 minutes set of original songs.
W:O:A Metal Battle Portugal is based on a series of regional qualifying heats that bring about four bands to be present at SWR barroselas metalfest, wherein the national final is scheduled to take place.
The national winner is then in charge of representing Portugal in Wacken Open Air, battling with bands from all over the world in order to reap a record label contract with Nuclear Blast and a variety of top-level endorsement deals with the main sponsors of the competition.
