WACKEN METAL BATTLE – INDIA
General Overview
Wacken Metal Battle India is part of the official global Wacken Metal Battle network.
The winning band from India will represent the country at the Wacken Metal Battle Global Final, held during Wacken Open Air in Germany.
The official partner for Wacken Metal Battle India is the Bangalore Open Air Festival and Aggressive Tendencies. Bangalore Open Air Festival works closely with local partners and promoters in each participating city.
Participation in Wacken Metal Battle India implies full and unconditional acceptance of all rules stated below.
Band Eligibility
- Bands must be actively performing, recording, and capable of international travel.
- Bands must be based in India, with the majority of members residing in India.
- All band members must be 18 years or older at the time of the national final.
- Bands must perform original music only. Cover songs are strictly prohibited.
- Bands must not have a current major label recording contract.
- Distribution deals and independent labels are permitted.
- Bands must be able to perform a minimum 20 minute set.
National Final & International Representation
The winning band of Wacken Metal Battle India will:
- Perform at the Wacken Metal Battle Global Final in Germany.
- Officially represent India on an international platform.
The band must be fully available to travel during the Wacken Open Air festival period.
Failure to obtain passports, visas, or any required travel documentation due to negligence or delay may result in forfeiture of the winning position.
Travel & Expenses
- All travel and accommodation related to city qualifiers, regional rounds, zonal finals, national finals, and Wacken Open Air must be organized and paid for by the band themselves.
- Wacken Metal Battle and Wacken Open Air may, at their discretion and as per international rules, provide limited on site support during the Global Final, which may include:
- Festival access
- Food and beverages on the day of performance
- Accommodation at VIP camping
- Local transport between airport and festival grounds
- Indian national and regional organizers are not responsible for:
- Passport costs
- Visa fees
- Missed appointments
- Travel delays or denials
- Bands must fully cooperate with all documentation timelines and information requests.
Code of Conduct
Professional conduct is expected at all times when dealing with:
- Organizers
- Crew
- Other bands
- Jury members
Aggressive behavior, substance abuse affecting performance, or public misconduct may result in immediate disqualification.
Online defamation or public attacks against the competition, organizers, or jury members may lead to exclusion from current and future editions.
Disqualification
Bands may be disqualified for, but not limited to:
- Submission of false information
- Violation of any rules stated herein
- Non compliance with schedules or instructions
- Unprofessional conduct
- Breach of trust or agreements
All disqualification decisions are final and non negotiable.
